GO Transit Lines Announce Service Changes for Halloween Weekend

GO Transit has announced that four of its train lines will operate on modified schedules over the Halloween weekend, while UP Express train service will be replaced by buses to accommodate significant track upgrades. These changes are set to take effect starting Saturday and will last until the end of service on Sunday.

UP Express to Operate Buses Instead of Trains

During this period, the UP Express service will not offer train transportation. Instead, passengers will be able to travel between Union Station Bus Terminal and Toronto Pearson Airport’s Terminal 1 via direct replacement buses. Notably, no UP Express buses will stop at Bloor, Weston, or Mount Dennis GO/UP stations during the service change.

Lakeshore East Line Operates on Hourly Schedule

On the Lakeshore East line, GO Transit trains will run between Durham College Oshawa GO and Union Station, maintaining an hourly schedule for travelers. This adjustment is part of a broader effort to accommodate the track upgrades taking place across the regional rail network.

Kitchener Line Sees Partial Train Service, Bus Replacements

The Kitchener line will only have active train service between Mount Pleasant and Mount Dennis GO stations. Passengers traveling to or from Stratford or Kitchener will need to use bus service that will run to the Hwy. 407 Bus Terminal, replacing regular train operations on these segments.

Barrie and Stouffville Lines Also Impacted

Barrie line riders will experience the suspension of GO train service between Downsview Park GO and Union Station. However, trains will continue to operate between Downsview Park and Allandale Waterfront stations. Those requiring travel into Union Station are advised to take the TTC Line 1 subway for the remainder of their journey.

For the Stouffville line, trains will continue to operate between Old Elm GO and Union Station, but travelers should note that southbound trains leaving Old Elm will depart up to 27 minutes later than regularly scheduled times.

Commuters Encouraged to Review Transit Schedules

GO Transit is urging all riders planning trips over Halloween weekend to check the latest schedules and alternative travel arrangements before they depart. Complete details on service changes and alternative transportation options can be found on the official GO Transit website.

Ongoing Track Upgrades Drive Service Adjustments

These temporary train service changes and modifications are necessary to enable major track upgrades across several GO Transit lines, ensuring long-term reliability and efficiency for the regional rail system. Riders are reminded that patience and preparedness will ease the impact of service interruptions during the improvement period.
