Ballerina Final Trailer Delivers the Calm and the Carnage

The film will hit theaters on June 6, 2025, and though it’s already received an early debut at Cannes, there is a new and final trailer.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and tells the untold story of a young assassin, Eve, played by Ana de Armas. This assassin is one of the ballerina-assassins who trained in Parabellum under the enigmatic character played by Anjelica Huston, known as The Director. Fans will recognize Huston as she reprises her role as Director of the Ruska Roma crime family. Fans will also notice Ian McShane as Winston, manager of the Continental, making a return, as well as Lance Reddick as Charon, the efficient concierge of the Continental, in what would be his final role.

In the final days leading up to release, Lionsgate has dropped another trailer for Ballerina, and it gives an idea of what to expect in the upcoming film. If the mood of the new trailer is any indication, Ana de Armas is about to become the next Keanu. With John Wick already appearing, and about what little was shown in the first trailer, it looks like Ballerina is going to be a large part action, and a small part emotional and interpersonal with her story arc. The two biggest names are Ana de Armas as Eve and Gabriel Byrne as the Chancellor, the film’s primary antagonist.

Ana de Armas is joined by Sharon Duncan-Brewster, who will play Eve’s mentor Nogi, as well as Norman Reedus in the role of Daniel Pine. Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Castañeda also join the cast, with both stars not revealing much about their respective roles. Of all the members of the cast and crew, the most recognizable is the director herself: Chloé Zhao, an Oscar-winning director who fans will recognize for her work on films like Nomadland.

Synopsis and Characters

Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) was a child when she lost her parents and was taken in by the Ruska Roma as one of the ballerina-assassins under the tutelage of the enigmatic Director (Anjelica Huston). Many years later, Eve is given a new mission by the Director and sets out on a bloody journey of vengeance.

Joining Eve on her journey is her mentor and partner, Nogi (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), who was herself a former ballerina-assassin trained by the Director. Nogi has a large and important role in Eve’s life, as it is through her that Eve learns the craft of assassination. Nogi is a skilled assassin in her own right and has earned a reputation for her deadly efficiency.
